NEWBIE NEWBIES 'NEW PLAYER INFO'
Welcome to Lensmoor.

If you are a veteran MUD player you may have noticed this place is just a
bit different from the stock DIKU mud. There are a lot more options
available to players and builders here. For those of you new to MUDS
altogether, be warned that we will spoil you. :)

This file contains a lot of what you need to know to get started playing.
There are hundreds of other help files. Some of them are mentioned here. To
find the rest use the INDEX. Help INDEX will tell you how to use it.

One of the first things to do after starting a character is to read a few
help files. I would suggest reading AUTO, CONFIG, SETEXP, PRACTICE, and
TRAIN, right off. To read them type help filename.

You start with some trains and practices, I would recommend training your
intelligence first. This increases how much benefit you get from each
practice. Practice one weapon skill. Sword or dagger is a good first choice.
You do not have to use all of your practices at once. Save some if
you wish until you get a firmer idea of what it is you wish to be.

There is a place to train and practice near where you enter the game. Look
around a bit, and you will find them. There are also places to buy basic
equipment. You have enough money to buy a weapon. Buy the one you have
practiced to use, then wield it. (wield weaponname)

You are in an area suited for your level. Explore. Listen to what the
mobiles have to say. Some talk to you. Some even ask and answer questions,
or give quests. Pay attention to the letter you will see before the name of
the mobs. The help CONSIDER file explains what it means.

If you have questions you wish to ask other players there is a channel
designed for this purpose. The newbiehelp channel is monitored by most
immortals and many players. Type newbie <message string> to use it. One
last thing for now: read help RULES. There are not many rules here, but the
ones we have are enforced.
