What is a Practice?
PRACTICE (with an argument) practices that skill or spell at the cost of one practice session. Your learning percentage varies from 0% (unlearned) to some maximum. Your intelligence and wisdom determines how much you learn from each practice, with more emphasis on intelligence.
Syntax: practice '<skill|spell>' (teacher)
For this syntax to work, a mob teacher of that skill must be present in the room, or the skill you are to practice can be done by yourself. You can specify which teacher you wish to learn from if there are multiple ones present, including 'self'. If you do not enter a teacher, the first one found will be used.
You may practice any non-craft skill up to 75% (crafts may only be practiced up to 30%). For info on skill levels see help SHOWSKILL.
Practicing a skill with multiple words
To learn a spell or skill with multiple words, you must enclose it in quotes, such as prac "cure light". Otherwise, the game thinks you are trying to learn "cure" from a mob named "light."
Practice Commands
Syntax: practice
PRACTICE (without an argument) displays a complete list of the skills and spells available in the game.
Syntax: practice list
Syntax: practice list (teacher) Syntax: practice list (self)
PRACTICE LIST will show all the skills a given mob teacher can teach you. An asterisk (*) beside the name of a skill indicates that you are knowledgeable enough to practice it on your own. You can use this command to target yourself or a specific mob.
If no argument is given, this command defaults to the first teacher in the room, followed by yourself as the target. If there is no teacher in the room, this command will provide you with a complete list of your self-practicable skills instead. All non-craft skills can be self-practiced if they are at 50% or higher.
Syntax: practice train
PRACTICE TRAIN will convert 5 practices into 1 training session.
Syntax: practice experience
PRACTICE EXPERIENCE converts one practice into experience points. It gives (exp-to-level setting / 100) worth of exp, rounded down to the nearest integer.
Syntax: practice respecialize
PRACTICE RESPECIALIZE will clear a specialization, for 100 practices.
Syntax: practice lower '<skill>' (amount)
PRACTICE LOWER will reduce a skill by a specified number of points. If no amount is specified, the amount will default to one point instead.
For example, "prac lower 'critical strike' 5" will lower your skill rating in that skill by 5 points.
To avoid lowering a skill by mistake (due to how they are ordered in the list), it is highly recommended that you spell the full name of the skill AND put single quotes around it.
Lowering a skill does not require a practice session. Practices are not refunded either.
Self Practice
Self practicable skills are skills that you can learn without any teacher. It still helps to have someone sing for you, of course, but no other help is needed.
